The Best Braised Green Beans
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 3 tbsp butter
- 1 lb green beans - ends trimmed
- 1 yellow onion - diced
- 2 cloves garlic - minced
- 2½ cups chicken broth or water
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp chicken bouillon
- 2 tsp soy sauce
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ black pepper
- 1 pinch sugar
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a deep skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onions and cook for 2-3 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
- Add the butter and the green beans. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Pour in the chicken broth. Add the garlic powder, smoked paprika, chicken bouillon, soy sauce, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Stir to combine.
- Cover with a lid and simmer over low heat for 30-35 minutes, or until the green beans are very tender. Add a splash of water or broth halfway through if needed.
- Taste and adjust seasoning as desired. Serve and enjoy!
