The Best Braised Green Beans

Ingredients
  

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1 lb green beans - ends trimmed
  • 1 yellow onion - diced
  • 2 cloves garlic - minced
  • cups chicken broth or water
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp chicken bouillon
  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ black pepper
  • 1 pinch sugar

Instructions
 

  • Heat the olive oil in a deep skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onions and cook for 2-3 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  • Add the butter and the green beans. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Pour in the chicken broth. Add the garlic powder, smoked paprika, chicken bouillon, soy sauce, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Stir to combine.
  • Cover with a lid and simmer over low heat for 30-35 minutes, or until the green beans are very tender. Add a splash of water or broth halfway through if needed.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning as desired. Serve and enjoy!
