Hot and Sour Dumpling Soup

Hot and Sour Dumpling Soup

Servings 2

Ingredients

  • 10-15 homemade or frozen dumplings
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp chili powder or chili flakes
  • 2 cloves garlic - minced
  • 1 green onion - finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 1/2 tbsp vinegar
  • 2 tsp oyster sauce
  • 1 pinch garlic salt or regular salt - to taste
  • 3/4 cup dumpling water

Instructions

  • Bring a pot of water to boil, carefully add in the dumpling and stir gently to prevent sticking. Once boiling, reduce to medium-low heat. Add 1/2 cup of cold water and bring it back to a boil. Repeat this step two more times until the dumplings are fully cooked and floating. Reserve 3/4 to 1 cup of dumpling cooking water.
  • Meanwhile, in a soup bowl, combine chili powder, minced garlic, chopped green onion, and sesame seeds.
  • Heat 3 tablespoons of oil in a small pan. Once hot, carefully pour the hot oil into the soup bowl and mix well.
  • Add soy sauce, vinegar, oyster sauce, garlic salt, reserved dumpling water, and the cooked dumplings to the bowl. Mix until well combined.
  • Garnish with cilantro if desired. Serve hot and Enjoy!
